HostPapa Has Better Uptime and Overall Website Performance
Canadian Web Hosting promises a 99.9% uptime guarantee, but when I tested it using Uptime Robot over a period of 30 days, it showed an average uptime of 99.98%, exceeding its own promise.
HostPapa also has 99.9% uptime guarantee, but when tested for 30 days straight, it scored a perfect 100% average uptime. This means it had no downtime at all over a one month period. Even though this is usually what we hope to see from hosting providers, it doesn’t happen so often.
Any hosting provider’s website loading speeds depend on many factors such as server locations, type of storage used (SSD or HDD), performance-boosting software (e.g. CDN), and so on.
Canadian Web Hosting has only one server location in Canada, while HostPapa has servers in both Canada and the U.S. HostPapa also uses SSD with all its hosting services. SSDs perform way faster than traditional disk drives such as those used by Canadian Web Hosting.
HostPapa also offers a free Cloudflare CDN with all its shared hosting plans. This places your website on a global network of servers, thus boosting its loading speed greatly from any location around the world.
I used Sucuri to test Canadian Web Hosting’s page loading speeds. For reasons unknown, the test was inconclusive and the servers failed to connect, leading to a disappointing score of an F.
I faced the same issue when I tested HostPapa’s overall loading speeds, resulting in the same failure grade.
Moving on, I used GTmetrix to test the overall performance of the websites hosted with both vendors. Starting with Canadian Web Hosting, it scored another disappointing D at 67%.
On the other hand, testing HostPapa’s overall performance using GTmetrix, showed more promising numbers, as it scored a B at 85%. Not a perfect score, but it still beats its competitor.
Although both services failed the loading speeds test, HostPapa still showed much better results when in terms of uptime and overall website performance, making it the winner in this round.

Canadian Web Hosting offers 24/7 support via phone, live chat, support ticket, and email. I tested both the live chat and support ticket. I received an instant and thorough response from the live chat team. I received a response to my ticket within an hour, which isn’t so bad.
HostPapa offers the same support options 24/7. I also tested both the live chat and support ticket system. Even though I got an instant response from the live chat team, it took three hours to receive a reply from the ticket support. On a brighter note, HostPapa’s support is available in English, French, Spanish, and German.
Another impressive support feature with HostPapa is that if you’re a beginner, it offers a free 30-minute one-on-one training session with one of its experts. This feature isn’t available with Canadian Web Hosting.
Despite its slow ticket support, HostPapa wins this round by a whisker for going the extra mile and offering training sessions for its customers.
