Content is one of the three most important ranking factors on Google, and with the explosion of AI content tools, we’ve also seen new content marketing agencies popping up like mushrooms.
However, most of these new content firms actually fail, because there’s so much more to effective content creation and business management than just
outsourcing to freelance writers, no matter how good they are.
In this interview with John Geletka, Founder & CXO of Geletka+, we will discover how they have built their creative-driven collaboration agency, the technologies and strategies they used to grow online, and how he sees the future of their industry.
Please introduce Geletka to our audience. What’s your story and how has it evolved so far?
Geletka+ is a Chicago based creative-driven collaboration agency I founded in late 2019 and stood up during the pandemic. Before he passed, my dear friend and old creative partner convinced me to put my name on the door. Soon after that, I had enough business to bring on one of the top young designers in the city and the smartest ECD around- People I work with and admire everyday. People who make the job fun. Fast forward 18 months or so and we find ourselves an 18 person and growing agency. Now I have an entire team of extraordinary people, who get better together each day. And that’s the thing. We’re a lot like other agencies. We’re full service, we value creative and we get data(we just don’t blab about it or use it as CYA). We killed the big shows, and opened up the doors to allow our clients inside the process to collaborate with us. It’s weird, messy, fun and one of the things I’ve done. Making art that doesn’t waste time.
What services do you offer and who is your main target market?
We’re a full service agency. That means everything from digital to print to broadcast to social to a pasta tap. Yea that’s right, we built that too. Our team is retained by massive multi-billion dollar public companies and innovators in the web3 gaming space. We work in hospitality, finance, biotech, energy, automotive and more. End of the day, our goal is to use creativity to move business forward. That’s design, tech, writing, strategy, poetry, film and more. We don’t have a stated target and we’re not for everyone. Clients who get the most from us value creativity, want collaboration and are open to continuous improvement. Plus they understand the true power of being independent.
What makes you stand out from the competition?
Our people and our work. That’s it. We bring amazing people together each and every day and ask them to help each other and our clients grow. The work speaks for itself and more than that, the results. We can tie back millions in revenue to our efforts. And that’s just one client.
Can you give us an overview of how you have built your website and
what tools/channels you are using to promote it?
Today, we have a straightforward WordPress site. In the future, we plan to enhance its speed by incorporating Gatsby. Currently, we rely on the quality of our work for promotion, but we intend to invest in some public relations efforts. Interviews, such as this one, hold significant importance for a small business like ours.
If you could go back in time, what would you do differently when starting your online business?
I’d probably have implemented more internal processes and set the standards sooner in the organization. We ran from spreadsheets for far too long.
How do you envision the future of your industry?
This is a great time for our industry. We have more channels than ever to bring creative thinking into, better minds and more tools that take a lot of the mundane work out of the equation. There’s a revolution in AI, the foundation of the internet is changing and new physical tech is on the horizon. The work we do has the potential to be more than just marketing too. We can do work that impacts communities at scale. And as an independent, we can take on the work we want, invest in our clients and our people and change the business for the good.
Lastly, any exciting news or developments that you would like to share?
Not much other than we’re hiring!
