If you’ve tried to use WordPress before, you know that its native editor isn’t exactly a walk in the park. Don’t get me wrong – you can certainly master it, but the learning curve can be pretty steep for newbies.
Enter WordPress page builders. These tools can be installed as plugins (both free and paid) and they come with drag-and-drop editors, so you can design a WordPress website with zero technical experience.
That said, not all WordPress page builders have the same capabilities. Some offer a limited selection of templates, while others don’t provide enough flexibility and creative control.
To save you time and energy, I spent weeks trying out the most popular WordPress website builders and found the ones that are actually worth your while. After extensive testing, I’ve put together a list of the seven best platforms in terms of themes, features, ease of use, and pricing.
And in case you’re not set on WordPress, feel free to skip ahead and check out a few website builders that are just as versatile, but much easier to use by default (no extra plugins needed!).
Let’s take a look.
Short on Time? These Are the Best WordPress Page Builders in 2024:
Elementor1 – An intuitive interface with over 300 high-quality templates to choose from
Divi1 – An all-in-one solution that includes a Divi theme, a Divi builder, and other products from Elegant Themes
What We Look for in the Best WordPress Page Builders
To narrow down the dozens of WordPress builders out there, I focused on the features that matter most to beginners who want to build a website quickly and easily:
Well-designed templates: Whatever your niche is, you want your site to have an eye-catching design. The page builders I chose offer professional and modern templates that look good out of the box.
Customization options: Your site should reflect your style, so it’s important to use a page builder that gives you a lot of flexibility when it comes to design. These platforms come with tons of customization options to help you create unique layouts.
Ease of use: These page builders are super easy to use and they let you design a website even if you’re a complete newbie (no coding skills or previous experience required).
Variety of integrations: In addition to good-looking templates and plenty of design options, you’ll need a solid range of integrations to help you extend your site’s functionality. Our top picks come with diverse tools for social media, marketing, SEO, and more.
It’s easy to see why Elementor is such a popular WordPress plugin – it gives you lots of editing options and over 300 themes (40+ are free)1.
Elementor lets you add either full pages or individual content blocks (such as pricing tables, FAQs, testimonials, etc.) to your site. And if you choose pages from the same family (called a “kit”), you can easily create a cohesive look across your whole site.
Since Elementor is a WYSIWYG editor, you get to see how your changes will look as you make them, and you get complete control over every single element. You can fine-tune your page’s layout, spacing, colors, and fonts, add advanced motion and hover effects, and modify every detail of your site’s content blocks and widgets.
All without writing a single line of code.
Features:
Compatibility. You can use this editor to customize any WordPress theme.
Mobile editing. Elementor themes are responsive by default, but you can also manually adjust your site layout for smaller screens.
Pop-up builder. You have access to templates for virtually every type of pop-up, from lead capture and email subscription to promotion and age-related content locks.
WooCommerce-ready. Since Elementor is fully compatible with WooCommerce, you can easily set up an online store and sell directly from your site.
With Elegant Themes’ Divi, you get quite a lot for the price of the basic plan. In addition to the Divi builder, you can access all Divi themes and other products from Elegant Themes, such as the Bloom email opt-in plugin and the Monarch social media plugin.
There are 100+ pre-made layout packs available1, together with 46 modules (content elements) you can add to your page, including portfolios, blogs, CTAs, contact forms, countdown timers, and many more.
Divi’s interface is slightly different from that of other WordPress builders. Instead of using a sidebar, you do all the editing from pop-ups. Personally, I like this approach, because you can easily pin the pop-ups to the side once you’re done and get a full-screen preview of your site.
Features
Shape dividers. You can choose from 26 customizable shape dividers and effects to create striking transitions between page sections.
Built-in A/B testing system. This can help you decide which version of your website is most effective in terms of conversions.
Social media sharing plugin. Divi’s Monarch plugin lets you display a set of sharing options on your site. You can choose how they appear – on a floating sidebar, on images and videos, as automatic pop-ups, etc.
Responsive editing. All Divi’s layout packs are automatically mobile responsive, so your site will look good on all devices.

You can choose from over 30 modules (Beaver Builder’s word for content elements) to add to your site, including galleries, videos, post sliders, social buttons, maps, and more. You can also save your own rows, modules, and templates, and use them across different sites thanks to Beaver Builder’s Import/Export feature.

Easier, All-in-One Solutions to Build a Website Quickly
While it has become easier to host your own website, there are still quite a few hoops to jump through to get started. You need to find a quality host, install WordPress.org, install a builder, and optimize your website to be sure you’re not using too many server resources.
The good news is that there are easier ways to create, launch, and maintain a site. For example, you can opt for a web hosting bundle that includes a pre-installed WordPress website builder.
One good example is InMotion Hosting, which includes BoldGrid – a drag-and-drop website builder that lets you design a website without any coding knowledge – in all hosting packages.
You also get a full suite of WordPress plugins, such as Jetpack (for site security, backups, and spam protection) and Easy SEO, which will help your content rank higher in search engines.
Or, if you’re not already committed to WordPress, there’s an even easier option. You can try out a dedicated website builder, such as Wix, Squarespace, and SITE123. They all offer a rich selection of features, and they’re super easy to use.
Wix has a very generous free plan and probably the most intuitive interface of any builder out there. It also has the largest template library (over 900!), and if you’re in a hurry, Wix’s AI tool can generate a website for you.
Squarespace is another great option for creative and business websites. It has over 200 modern, beautiful templates – seriously, you’d be hard-pressed to find a clinker in the bunch. It also offers tailored business solutions, from design consultations to tech support.
There’s no free plan, and it’s certainly a more expensive option compared to WordPress page builders. However, you do get some great features, such as built-in SEO, marketing, and scheduling tools, a professional email account from Google, and extensive e-commerce capabilities.
SITE123 is all about speed and simplicity. You get an intuitive drag-and-drop editor, a selection of attractive designs, and an abundant set of e-commerce tools.
There is a free plan, but it doesn’t let you connect a custom domain, so if you want to build a professional site, you’ll have to upgrade to Premium. That said, the paid plan is pretty cheap, considering you also get 10GB of storage and e-commerce features.
Choose the Easiest Web Building Option for You
If you’re committed to using WordPress, consider examining the plugin builders listed here. Each of them can assist you in crafting distinctive custom layouts without the need to delve into code.
Elementor1 is the most popular option, and you can use it to build any type of website. You get access to 300+ templates, global widgets, and a pop-up builder, you can customize every element of your design, build a store with WooCommerce, and more.
Divi1doesn’t have a free plan, but it does come bundled with a theme, a page builder, and add-ons to extend your site’s functionality. Divi also has some amazing features, such as a built-in A/B testing system that lets you change your design to get more conversions.

FAQ
Which free page builder is best for WordPress?
Elementor is the most popular builder plugin because it gives you the most features on its free version. Divi doesn’t have a free plan, but its designs are some of the best-looking around, and it makes it super easy to extend the functionality of your site with social media and email opt-in plugins.
Which is better, Elementor or WPBakery?
WPBakery has fewer templates and design customization options than Elementor. On the other hand, it has a vast selection of 250+ third-party add-ons, which could be a game changer for some users.
That said, if you’re looking for the easiest (and fastest) way to get online, you might want to avoid WordPress altogether and go with a website builder instead. Check out our list of the best website builders in 2024 to get you inspired.
Is Divi better than Elementor?
It all depends on your preferences. Both builders have incredibly intuitive editors and plenty of customization options, but Divi takes a slightly different approach by making you edit everything from pop-ups instead from a sidebar. Elementor has a free version and more templates, while Divi has some cool features such as an built-in A/B system and a social media sharing plugin.
Can you use WordPress for free?
You can sign up for WordPress.com for free, but the free plan is best suited for blogs and personal projects. If you want to use any of the WordPress plugins, you’ll have to upgrade to the Business plan or above. If you choose to do so, you can make use of our awesome coupons and get discounts on annual plans.
